The Polish flag registration process follows a procedure established by the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure. With the correct documentation and professional management, timelines are significantly reduced.
Required documentation
Owner documents
- Valid ID or passport.
- Bill of sale or purchase invoice.
- Certificate of Registry if the vessel is already flagged in another EU country.
Vessel documents
- Flag deregistration from the previous registry. (If no deregistration exists, consult with us.)
- CE marking certificate. (Only required if the boat was built after 2017.)
- No technical inspection report is required.
- Engine manual is required if the engine exceeds 20 kW (if no manual exists, consult with us).
- No photographs of the boat are required.
The step-by-step process
Phase 1: Document collection
We gather all necessary documentation and verify it meets Polish registry requirements. In this phase, we identify potential document gaps and request any additional documents needed.
Phase 2: Sworn translations
Documents require certified translation into Polish by an accredited translator. Our service includes the translations needed for the standard file.
Phase 3: Submission to the registry
The complete file is submitted to the Polish maritime registry through our office in Poland. The registry verifies the documentation and, if everything is correct, assigns the Polish registration number.
Phase 4: Document delivery
Once the file is approved, you receive the original documentation via certified mail.
Estimated timelines
The standard process requires between 3 and 4 weeks from receipt of complete documentation. An express option is available with reduced timelines for an additional fee.
Note: The most variable factor is usually obtaining the flag deregistration from the previous registry (especially in Spain).
Special cases
- Incomplete documentation: consult us.
- Without CE marking: consult us.
- Non-EU owners: consult us.
- Large vessels: consult us.
Engine change
If the vessel's engine has been changed, the new registration allows documenting the current engine by providing the supporting documentation.
